據英國「天空新聞」最新消息，當地時間10月20日，英國國防大臣本·華萊士透露，一架俄羅斯軍機曾在一架英國皇家空軍偵察機的附近發射導彈。華萊士稱，這次事件發生在9月29日，俄方也承認發生在國際空域。
華萊士稱，當時，英國皇家空軍飛機的一架RC-135偵察機正在黑海上空執行巡邏任務，這架偵察機並未攜帶任何武器。隨後，這架偵察機遭到了俄軍兩架蘇-27戰鬥機的近距離「尾隨」。華萊士稱：「在這次互動中，一架蘇-27戰機在RC-135偵察機附近發射了一枚導彈，導彈隨後超出了飛行員的目視範圍。」

報道稱，在這一事件發生後，英國在黑海上空的巡邏行動曾一度被暫停，但目前已經恢復，而且執行巡邏任務的飛機獲得了戰鬥機的護航。
