巴基斯坦總理夏巴茲·謝裏夫10月19日在巴首都伊斯蘭堡總理府會見中國政府防洪專家組一行，感謝中國政府在巴艱難時刻派出專家組支持防洪減災工作。
夏巴茲說，今年巴基斯坦遭受特大洪災，中國政府和人民提供了巨大支持。中國在防洪管理方面具有豐富的經驗，希望專家組為巴在製定短期和中長期防洪規劃方面提供建議。
參加會見的中國駐巴基斯坦大使農融表示，中國政府將繼續為巴抗擊洪災提供支持和幫助。

中國政府派出的防洪專家組本月11日抵巴，與巴政府官員和專家就洪災產生原因、未來防洪減災設想進行了工作交流，並前往受災最嚴重的南部信德省進行現場考察。按照計劃，專家組將於21日結束在巴工作。
據巴國家災害管理局介紹，自6月中旬 威馬藥局、 英國威馬、 威馬持久液、 英國威馬持久液 以來，強降雨在巴引發洪澇災害，超過3300萬人受災，災民救助和災後重建任務異常繁重。
